Why do you hate it? We need more batshit crazy SUVs. I’ll take one of these over a dozen Explorers, Equinoxes, Highlanders etc

Well you could buy a dozen of the aforementioned SUVs for the price of a Levante.

Watch DeMuro’s video on the Ghibli - it’s eye-opening. As well, it seems to me that Maserati (and yes, Bentley) is just slapping a badge on an SUV to make money. Which they’re allowed to do, of course. But I think I’d rather have a Stelvio at, what, half the price?

As I mentioned above - the Stelvio must be ... half as much money? And if I really needed a vehicle in that class I’d probably go Highlander. Best taxis ever - great ride and comfy. I should Turo one next time I go see my mom.

Can’t disagree there, Maserati is good for the exhaust sound and that’s about it. Unfortunately the Stelvio’s T4 isn’t going to put out any sound that aggressive.

The top trim Explorer starts in the mid 50's. The Levante starts at 73k. So not as big as a price gap as you say.

That being said, I do not like them either. The Levante and Ghibli are ruining the Maserati brand. In my mind, a Maserati should be stylish luxury grand cruiser with a Ferrari soundtrack. It should be an aspirational brand that is a step up from BMW/MB/Audi/Lexus. Not just another generic amorphous blob with a big grill and trident. There needs to be drama, prestige, and stunning looks. A girl of mine once described a GranTurismo S as “sex on wheels”. I cannot disagree. That’s what Maserati should be. Something that pleases all of your senses. It should not be a 3 series / x5 rival that your typical middle manager can afford new.

Levante starts at 73k. See my rant to JKM below for my opinion on the matter haha

And yet I probably won’t hear the sound of the service advisor gleefully telling me the repair costs quite as often with a Toyota (or even the Alfa).

Agreed on what Maserati should be. And looking at that thing in the metal - it seems as if it doesn’t have the room of even an RX, which is hardly a miracle of packaging.

I’ve seen a few driving but never looked at one up close. Can’t really imagine why someone would buy it other than the badge. It is overwhelmingly meh. Which is sad, because I am historically a Maserati fan. At least they still have the QP GTS and GT. Even if the GT is a decade old.

Should have taken more time, but it does not have the room of, say, a Highlander and certainly not of an Explorer, Grand Cherokee, Pathfinder, etc.

Maybe I’ll swing by my local Alfa/Maserati store this weekend to have a look. I should really save judgements until I do but both seem super half baked at the moment. ¯\_()_/¯
